Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer – Design (Intern), you will help conceptualize, model, and refine our rapidly evolving DPSD technology for space environments. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team, gain hands-on experience with real aerospace challenges, and see your work directly impact our mission.
Responsibilities

Mechanical Design: Use CAD software to design aerospace components related to the DPSD.

Zero-Gravity & Fluid Mechanics: Research and apply principles of microgravity and fluid behavior to optimize the system.

Drawings & Fabrication: Generate manufacturing drawings and documentation for prototyping and fabrication.

Deployable Mechanisms: Contribute ideas and designs for structural components that withstand space environments and deploy effectively in microgravity.

Problem-Solving & Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, scientists, and fellow interns to refine our prototypes and troubleshoot technical challenges.
Requirements

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen (required for ITAR compliance)

Education: Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics

Time Zone: Able to work remotely from anywhere in the United States

CAD Proficiency: Skilled with any mechanical design/CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)

Knowledge of Zero-Gravity & Fluid Mechanics: Understanding of or experience with microgravity systems

Manufacturing Drawings: Ability to produce clear, detailed documentation for fabrication

Background in Deployable Mechanisms: Understanding of materials and structural considerations for space environments

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, excellent teamwork, flexibility, and clear communication
